The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law. ~ Deuteronomy 29:29
Imagine that you are a child and your parents give you a very special toy. You carry it everywhere and it is the most precious thing to you! One day, you accidentally lose it! In your little, tiny mind the world is over and you can't stop thinking about it and looking for it. Oh wait, you find it and you are so excited! God desires that we have the same passion for the treasures He gives to us! That's the passion the people had in the parables of the lost coin and the lost sheep! It wasn't just a little thing, it was the loss of a lifetime, and when it was found there was great rejoicing! God has given us everything we have. None of it is ours, including our bodies. He calls us to steward the things He gives us and multiply them for His glory!
We can't move into what God has if we don't steward what God has given us. We must step into a new place of stewardship!
God is calling us to become a repository:
Receptacle or place where things are deposited, stored, or offered for sale:a repository for discarded clothing. An abundant source or supply; storehouse:a repository of information.
A burial place; sepulcherm a person to whom something is entrusted or confided.
CAN YOU HANDLE THE BLESSING??
Colossians 2 states that all riches are in Him. When you go after something and try to learn about it on your own, it's only knowledge and worldly wisdom. God resists the proud and knowledge puffs up. True wisdom and revelation come when God unveils Himself, revealing what is hidden in Christ. When God gives you heavenly revelation, it causes you to prosper.
What is the key that we need to grab hold of???
Access to revelation and inheritance comes through relationship! In Bible times, when the father was ready to release blessings and inheritance to the son, he would put his hands on the son and speak a blessing over him. The family inheritance wasn't given to strangers. The intimate relationship between the son and the father gave the son access to the family riches, blessings, and inheritance.
God wants us to have the power to change and be blessed so we can be a witness. In Acts 1, Jesus told His disciples to go and wait until they receive power and are empowered to become a witness. We can't be a witness if we haven't seen anything. To be a witness, we have to have something revealed to us and experience it, see it, and taste it! He has given us the power to be a witness, which is the same power to become a son of God! Wait for the power to come! That power is about to make us rich with the blessing.
When we have a poverty mindset, we won't go for the blessing, reach for it, or prepare for it. A poverty mindset is a 3-strand cord: religion, fear, and poverty. It will wrap around you and hold you back! This mindset is a tactic of the enemy to cause us not to be good financial stewards and, therefore, we cannot be good stewards of spiritual things. If you can't handle money, you won't be able to handle glory! If you can't handle natural things, why would God trust you with spiritual riches since they mirror one another?
We are breaking out of that this year! We must so that we can march forward in 2020 with our eyes wide open! We will taste of the powers of the age to come because the three strand cord will be pulled off. We are commissioned to take what Jesus died on the cross for and possess it!
There is corporate mantle and inheritance that is being released to the Body of Christ in the earth. There are blessings we aren't able to walk in because we have not been knitted together in love. We must also be knitted to Christ Himself because He is the repository and the storehouse. All of the riches are in Him. The glory that is being released is so thick and so heavy it must be laid upon a group of people together. We can't handle the blessing individually, we must be knitted together in love and carry it corporately. It'll take love to get there!
God, we thank you for all of the treasures You have given us and will give us. Help us to be the most excellent stewards of Your treasures and the things that are important to You! I ask that You would break the 3 strand cord of the poverty spirit off our lives so we can flourish, be blessed, steward, and multiply! Amen.
Below and attached to this email is the handout for the sermon. It explains the meaning of the Hebrew word for treasure: otsar, and lists parables about treasure in the Kingdom, what God sees as precious and valuable things God has given you!!
Colossians 2:1-3
I want you to know how great a struggle I have for you… being knitted together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, WHICH IS IN CHRIST, in WHOM are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. (I am the door - John 10:9 / I saw a door open – Rev. 4:1)
Deuteronomy 28:12
The Lord shall open unto thee His good treasure (otsar), the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in His season, and to bless all the work of thine hand, and thou shalt lend unto many nations and thou shalt not borrow (1 Chron. 29:8, Nehemiah 10:38).
Psalm 83:4 His saints as treasured ones
Proverbs 8:21 loving wisdom… fill their treasures
Jeremiah 51:6 wind from treasuries
Parables of the Kingdom
Lost coin (Luke 15:8-10)
Talents (Mt. 25:14-30) (Luke 19:12-27)
Talent = gift or skill
1 gram of gold = $38
Talent = 33kg = 1,400,116.57
1 ounce of sliver = $15 ($0.50/gram)
Talent (silver) 33kg = 16,500
All talents and spiritual gifts come from God:
Power over silver and gold (Daniel 11:33)
Mammon (Matthew 6:24)
Fear of the Lord – Treasure (Isaiah 33:6)
Power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18)
“But you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm (establish) His covenant which He swore to your fathers.”
